Working for a firm that values employee well-being might be the difference between a job you enjoy and one you don't. The key to success is a pleasant work atmosphere. Many individuals have asked me, as a business consultant, corporate trainer, and psychotherapist for many years, "How can I live with negativity at work?" Is it possible to work for a good company? "How can I recognize one and get hired?"

Healthy workplaces have a set of characteristics that promote excellence, productivity, and friendship. The following are ten qualities of a healthy workplace and a happy work environment.

  1. Positive Values. A positive mission statement lays forth the objectives and actions that demonstrate the greatest level of devotion to excellence and service to one another, the firm, customers, and shareholders. The organization strives to fulfill its objectives ethically and honestly, with a higher sense of purpose for the sake of the earth and humanity.

  2. Relaxed and Productive Environment. People look forward to going to work because they are valued, acknowledged, and rewarded. There are no signs of fear, dominance, bullying, sexual harassment, or intimidation. Creativity, productivity, and thinking outside the box all thrive in this environment.

  3. Excellence. Employees give their all. They aspire to be the best and provide high-quality goods and services. They accept accountability for their actions and choices.

  4. Open Communication. Everyone speaks in a card-on-the-table fashion, finding good solutions to problems. When confronted with negative criticism, they do not engage in nefarious retaliation. Instead, they see critique as a chance to improve.

  5. Cooperation and Support. A good work atmosphere is marked by can-do, go-the-extra-mile, and win-win attitudes. Employees feel a sense of belonging, teamwork, and power. Without bitter, vicious backstabbing, healthy competition may flourish.

  6. Lively Environment. Employees maintain a sense of humor, have fun, and laugh at themselves. Endorphins, our natural antidepressants, are produced when we laugh.

  7. Respect and Understanding. When employees endure hardships like accidents, diseases, personal tragedies, and natural calamities, kindness and understanding prevail. When people are treated correctly and with empathy, compassion, and respect, they are more likely to go the additional mile for others.

  8. Flexibility. Change is welcomed by the organization and its personnel, who adapt to new trends and technologies and learn new skills. They understand that if they don't, the company would go extinct. "Change is the only constant," as the adage goes.

  9. Positive Reinforcement. To be driven, people want attention, respect, and thankfulness. Genuine praises, bonuses, increases, promotions, and certificates of success are the oil that keeps the machinery running. Employees are frequently thanked in this manner by the firm.

  10. Emphasis on Health. Weight-loss, smoking cessation, and substance abuse programs are included in the company's complete health insurance. The office cafeteria serves nutritious food, and the company gym is well-equipped for exercising. The employer provides childcare reimbursement and/or on-site daycare. Incandescent bulbs, rather than halogen or fluorescent, are used in the office's natural and recessed lighting. The company is ecologically conscious, promoting solar power and recycling.

Conclusion

“As long as you are being positive, you are being productive.” For many people, working in a positive workplace is a dream come true. But how can you figure out which job best fits you? Of course, by following the signs in this post! Remember that a fear-based workplace lives on fear, whereas a trust-based workplace thrives on trust. What do your instincts tell you? The answer is obvious. Do you work in a hostile atmosphere, or are you one of the happy few who can check off all ten signs?
